Lace and Pearls

Happy Sunday!  Today over at Sentimental Sundays it's all about Lace and Pearls.  I felt very inspired by nature for my card.  I think the reason is that it's starting to warm up here.  It's so nice outside, I wish it could last forever.  I know that many places it's still cold and my card is to just remind you all that summer is coming and that I am sending you good weather thoughts through my card.

I finally bought some Spellbinders and I am in love!  I feel like it really finished off my card.  I also used Liquid Pearls for the first time.  I've had them for about 2 months and just never found a reason to take them out.  Now I'm glad I did and you can expect to see more of them in the future.

Sentimental Sundays: Focus on the Sentiment

Happy Sunday and welcome to another Sentimental Sundays challenge.  I, unfortunately, wasn't able to play along last week.  I hope you were able to check out all of the amazing projects the design team shared and that you had a chance so play along yourself.  This week over at Sentimental Sundays we are creating a project that focuses on the sentiment.  Of course every challenge we have sentiments, but this time I picked out the sentiment first and then based my card around it.  Usually, it's the other way around.  I create my card and then choose a sentiment that matches.

I kept this card fairly simple.  It's only one layer, but I added a lot of texture to it.  I created my own background paper by stamping coffee beans in two colors.  One in a darker color and one in the lighter color that you can't even see.  I then ran it through my Cuttlebug folder, Seeing Spots and then inked the edges as well as the whole card front with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  I really like the way it turned out.

As you can see, I cut out the coffee image.  It had steam coming out from the top of the cup that I didn't want to cut out.  So I just stamped the image again and then adhered the coffee cup right over it.

Krafty Girls is HERE!!!

Hello everyone and welcome to the Krafty Girls first blog hop and challenge.  I am so excited that it's finally here.  It only seems like yesterday that Maribel and myself decided to start our own challenge blog and now here we are on our opening day ready to go with not only a full design team, but also a blog hop!!  I'm also doing a giveaway at the end of this post so make sure to stick around to the end, it's a long one ;-)

You should have arrived here from Cyndy's blog.  If not make sure to go back to Krafty Girls after you read this post and make sure to play along with us so you don't miss any of the amazing design teams members' projects.

Our first challenge is called Home Sweet Home.  Create any card, scrapbook layout, 3D item, or home decor project that represent where you live or where you're from.  That's it!!  Here is my card.

Recipe
card stock:  Stampin' Up
twine: The Twinery (maraschino)
cartridges: 50 States (Arizona flag), Sentimentals (postage stamps card base),
Birthday Bash (font *my favorite*)

If you didn't know already, I'm from Arizona, born and raised.  If you know anything about Arizona, you will know that being a native is RARE.  Most people I meet are not originally from AZ.  I think that this challenge is perfect for today.  February 14, 1912 Arizona became a state.  That means that Arizona is 100 years old today!  Happy Birthday Arizona!!  I really love my state.  Not only because it's birthday is always on Valentine's Day, but for so many reasons.  Yes we have insane summers that reach up to 120 degrees, but those 3 months out of the year are worth all the beautiful months we get back in return.

Giveaway Time!!!
As always, I have requirements to be entered into the giveaway.
  • You must be a follower.
  • Leave a comment telling me where you live and why you love it so much.
Thanks for sticking around until the end.  The next stop is Jessica.  So make sure to head on over and see what she has in store for you.  If you get lost anywhere in the blog hop, go back to Krafty Girls Challenge Blog to find your place again.  :-)

    I Love You Dachshund

Valentine's Day is in two days and I am so excited. I love Valentine's Day, I'm always happier than I normally am just because of all the love being celebrated. Since I'm a teacher, I still get to pass out valentines like an 8 year old! Do you remember the scene from Billy Madison where the whole class is making valentines for each other? That's how I picture every Valentine's day. So cute, fun, and innocent. Today's card is for my husband.

    Recipe
card stock: Stampin' Up and Recollections (Precious Metals)
cartridges: Four Legged Friends (dachshund), Victorian Romance (heart base),
Hello Kitty Font (font), Simply Charmed (heart)
embellishments: twine, Glossy Accents, white gel pen

I absolutely love this card for so many reasons.  I love each and every cartridge I used.  I've been dying to use the dachshund cutout since I first got the cartridge Four Legged Friends.  I know this will not be the last time either.  I'm also really loving Victoria Romance.  It's a newer cartridge.  That cartridge basically sums up Valentine's Day for me.

So Happy Valentine's Day, from my 8 year old self to you...

    Altered $1 Bin Box

Before Christmas I had all of these plans to make cards for all of my friends and family.  I also had plans to create handmade gifts.  Well procrastination got the best of me and I only made five cards and one handmade gift.  I know, procrastination is the worst.  I guess you can also say that I've been procrastinating on this post because I've been waiting until I got my other box done, but it seems that may be a lost cause.  So here it is, my handmade gift for my niece.
